Diabetes and Fruits

In Trinidad and Tobago, teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 are overweight and more than 40% have at least one risk factor of developing diabetes.


The HCC (Healthy Caribbean Coalition) expressed desires of “the whole of society approach” to help alleviate NCD’s (non-communicable diseases).


Likewise, Fruitables aims to help promote healthy eating from an early age.



Reducing chances of diabetes through Grapes & Bananas:

A natural grape compound called pterostilbene can lower blood sugar, fight diabetes, and take on cancer (FC&A Medical Publishing, 2003).



The American Diabetes Association recommends figs as a high-fiber snack which slows down the conversion of carbohydrates into sugar.  Foods high in fiber causes your body to produce less insulin.
